Me Geneviève Pépin comments on the origin of the Hélène Rumak Funds in the Saint-Charles-Borromée Affair. She recounts the chronology of the procedures involved in the collective action initiated by HVD on behalf of residents who were victims of systematic abuse between 1995 and 2006. She stresses the importance of this historic agreement that was signed between the victims and the Hôpital Saint-Charles-Borromée:

  • $ 7,000,000 indemnities for residents
  • Restorative measures: the Hélène Rumak Fund to promote the rights of residents in public long term care settings across Québec ( $ 250,000 ) and the Gisèle Allard Fund for the quality of life of the residents of the Centre d’hébergement Paul-Emile-Léger ( former Hôpital Saint-Charles-Borromée )( $ 250,000 ).
